about Homesick Festival

Homesick Festival presents a series of performances that take place in private homes. Initiated by Vienna-based Japanese artist Michikazu Matsune, each edition is joined by several artists from the fields of performance, dance and visual arts. The project explores the environment of private homes as a stage for unique encounters and shared experiences.

Upon booking, a pair of artists – Michikazu Matsune joined by another artist – visit your home to perform in person. Artists present performances inspired by their own history, childhood, everyday life, wishes or dreams. Interventions vary from dancing in the livingroom to protesting in the kitchen to philosophying in the bedroom among others. Homesick Festival offers opportunities to (re)connect with our own experience of home, our current location, life situation and the state of being.
